Ive had the salt for ages. Before It got hot it was fine. The presence of copper compounds can make substances look blue. Unless they say it's fine I believe there is a tiny amount of copper that is added to most reef salts, that may have caused the blue tinge if the salt kind of 'melted together" I wouldn't chance it. It's too easy to do things that you can't undo, like the guy who had a heater break in his make-up water , and then added the water to the system, and found out that the copper in the heater had contaminated the water, which then hurt the critters in his tank.
Thanks for the advice. Ive now drained, cleaned an re-filled the tank. It was hard work but I suppose its better to waste a bucket of salt and a couple of hours time than to risk my livestock. I may contact the manufacturer and find out what they think happened.
