Neil but now, georgina, let's get the answer to my question: axhol3rose recommended for you. For this is england, he had the jumping off point: In qualifying for the finals, the u. Written and directed by shane meadows; This tag belongs to the character category. Combo turns his rage on Banjo, throwing a bottle at him and Meggy. When Combo violently beats Banjo, Meggy calls him 'mad as a March hare. Horrified at what he has done, Combo turns to Milky, who is seemingly dead.
When Shaun is shown crying, he comes back into the room, but a remorseful Combo is weeping in shame. He manages to convince him to stop crying and help get Milky to the hospital.
Ashamed of his actions, Combo leaves town. The scene cuts with Shaun looking at a picture of his dad, who died in the Falklands. Three years later, Combo arrives unexpectedly at Shaun's house one night, drunk and bloodied, and collapses on the living room floor. The next morning, Combo tells Shaun that he has returned because his mother is dying.
Shaun and Smell take him to his mother's house, but she has already passed away. Combo takes a moment to pay his respects to his mother, and embraces Shaun as a friend, thanking him for his help.
Later on, Combo decides to visit Lol at her house. He rings the bell several times, but there is no answer. He peers through the living room window and sees Lol sobbing alone in a corner with Mick lying dead on the floor. Fully aware of what has happened and with nothing to lose, Combo alters the scene to make it appear that he had killed Mick in Lol's defense by smearing his fingerprints over the hammer Lol used to kill Mick, and injuring himself with Mick's hand.
Subsequently, Combo is sent back to prison for manslaughter, though this time with a clear conscience. Two years later, Lol visits Combo in prison. Looking back on her life over the past few years, Lol has come to realise that Combo was the only one who was ever truly there for her.
She visits him to thank him and apologise for what she told him in and admits that she does love him the exact nature of this love is not revealed.
During the visit, Combo asks about Woody and Milky and is shown a photograph of Lol's baby daughter Lisa, who was the result of a fling with Milky. Combo appears to be genuinely happy for Lol and does not make any racist remarks, hinting that he has abandoned his racist ways. Combo also tells Lol that he is changing his life for the better and continuing with his education by taking his GCSEs in English, Maths, and Sociology.
But at least things are looking up for Shaun. Which rift? The centrepiece of the episode is a dinner sequence, in which Lol and Woody assemble their friends and family to deliver an enormous revelation. Kelly, convinced the couple are set to announce their engagement, is optimistic but has that position shattered when Lol reveals that it was not Combo who murdered their rapist father, but her. Kelly cannot handle the news, still loyal to the father she loved so much, and even lashes out at Trev, claiming that she lied about being raped by Mick.
Autumn is here and the party is over. Combo is back, and with him comes the pain, heartbreak and powerful drama that we know and love. Lol wakes up and we see Combo preparing to leave prison, after successfully appearing to be a reformed and regretful man in his parole hearing.
And everything is about to change. Seven years on from Combo hospitalising him in a racist attack, Milky still bears a grudge. And the scars. Or anyone for that matter. Or maybe, he's made that decision on his own?
Others will probably see it as an accident on the spur of the moment, purely provoked by overall anger, jealousy, weed, etc. I myself am unsure where I stand on this one. As we know, Combo's a very complex character. At times I feel he really did have good intentions towards Milky.
He's previously said Milky's "a proud man". At Smell's party he didn't have any special attitude towards him. Often, though, my opinion sways in another direction. Let's face it, from all the people whom Combo could have approached for weed, why Milky? To me it seems like an unusual choice. The way he was interacting with him was also odd. The scene gave me the impression they were now great mates. How come so fast? This somehow tells me there's been some hidden agenda in Combo's mind.
Secondly, I'm baffled as to why Combo smacked Banjo with a bottle over the head. I know the main argument here is that Banjo said the "wrong" thing. From what I could hear, he said something along the lines of "I want in on that". Why would that invoke such a reaction in Combo? I know he's the more prominent character of the two, but they've always been in this together.
Surely, a statement of such kind shouldn't surprise him, let alone infuriate him. I was surprised at his general reaction to everyone in that scene, including Maggie and Shaun, but primarily Banjo. What are your thoughts and observations? I could bring up various points for disccusion s such as the evident remorse Combo showed after the attack and the unlikelihood of Milky actually tagging along with Combo, but I'll leave it at that. Member since February Banjo states "I want out of this" then Combo hits him over the head with a bottle this infuriates Combo who then attacks Banjo. I have tried looking for the script of This Is England to find out exactly what Banjo says but I am guessing after he see's what Combo has done to Milky he feels ashamed and decides that he would not like to play a part in the violence. I'll Be Back. Thanks for your response. I've also looked for the script, but to no avail. I'm afraid it isn't available anywhere.
Or I might as well be completely rubbish at research : Ah, righto. Your version of his line definitely makes more sense in terms of Combo hitting him.
